Fishing
Report for the week of 06/04/05 - 06/10/05
Post spawn bass are starting to show up.
Its about time! And it looks like the Pacific high is setting in so the weather
should stabilize and the bass will get on their summer pattern as more bass get
out of their post spawn period. Clients this past week have had good luck with
drop shot and Senkos fishing in the creeks and around docks in the north end.
I've had some reports of frog fish being caught by fishin' deep in the tules
although it has not worked for my clients but we didn't try that hard.
Sight fishing is still working, however there are not as many bedding fish as
before. If you go after post spawn fish, which can be a hard thing to do, try
just reversing their route from pre spawn. They will have a tendency to group
up, the problem is finding them. Try deeper points with slow presentations using
flukes with no weight on a wide gap #3/0 hook. I have had some of my best days
using this presentation on tule points also around
docks. Hope to see you-all on the water! Be
safe.. Richard

"The spawn is on" so if sight
fishing is your thing it's time to go. If not try Senko's and drop shot around
bedding areas in the north end.. Be careful out there it's a very busy

The fishing all depends on the weather
however you can't depend on the weather this year.. Clients the first part of
the week were doing good catching bass up to 9 pounds! Then the rains came,
along with cooler weather and wind. Now the water has dropped in temp along with
the clarity so sight fishing is about out of the question.. This weekend even
with the warming trend, I dont think the water will clear enough for good
sight fishing . Sooo now what to do? Try fishing in areas where bass should be
bedding with jig's, senkos, and of course drop shot. Look for pockets in tules
and slowly work areas with weeds around docks. Also swimbaits, spinner baits and
rip baits have been accounting for a few bass. The north end is your best bet
for quality bass but the south end is better for numbers.. If this weather
settles down (as it should) the fishing next week should be great!
Take care out there... Richard

Took some time off over the weekend to
get caught up. Wish I had fished because the bite was pretty good. Then the
weather did its thing, ugh! Clients had a hard time catching bass the first part
of the week, then the weather started to improve each day and so did the bite
but not on large bass. Best bet was drop shot with 6" worms and Senko's.
Both the north and south end is kicking out fish. With the warmer water, 65°
today, there are a lot of suspended bass under docks and lay downs. Wish I could
get more than 1 out of about 100 to bite! The spawn should be on any day
now... Have a good day out there! Richard

Well, the only thing we can count on is
the bad weather. The bass should be spawing but the water temp is still too low,
about 57° to 63°. It should be around 74° for this time of year. It
looks as though the bass will still be spawning into late June.. Clients this
past week have enjoyed catching a lot of small fish 'mostly on drop shot' around
docks and tules, in both the north and south ends of the lake. Big bass for the
week was a fat 6.10 lb'er! Also a couple of my clients fishing on their
own a few days ago hooked up two bass weighing 6 plus pounds using a Lucky Craft
Pointer in shad pattern in the north end. Good luck out there
and "Tight Lines".....Richard

Slow to fair has been the norm for the
last week. Although clients caught bass up to 7 pounds, the average has been
around 2 pounds..The numbers have been very good, about 15 for a 4 to 6 hour
trip.. Drop shot has been the best producer with a 6" straight tail
worm...These bass want to spawn. Some have, some are, but most haven't.. When
the weather gets right there should be a large number of big bass on the beds!
Who knows it might be this up coming week. I can't seem to out guess the
weatherman any more.. I have gotten some reports that the south end is
starting to turn on. Look for bass starting to stage up-under docks. In the
north end I have seen a lot of cruisers in sloughs and up the creeks but boy
they are very hard to catch! Let's hope the weather gets them in the mood so we
can get the spawn over and start fishin' for bass that would like to
eat.. Have fun out there and be safe!! Richard

Warmer weather with a full moon and 60's
water temp = 'sight fishin' for bedding fish. Clients last week caught bass up
to 6 plus pounds, using minnows and drop shot with 6" worms. The
fishin' was fair to good around staging areas and under docks in the north
end. Now that the bass have moved up on their beds, try Senko's and white
or chartreuse tubes on their beds. There are some reports of spinner bait and
swim bait fish being caught if you want to throw them all day.. Keep in mind
that not all the bass spawn at the same time so if you don't like sight fishin'
just work areas around where they like to spawn. The north end is still your
best bet, however the south will start to turn on as the water warms. Because
the water in the south end is deeper it takes a little longer for it to get to
the right temp.. Be Safe and "Tight Lines"!!

Fishing Report for the week of 04/09/05
- 04/15/05
Warm weather at last! Start looking for
bedding bass, they have been ready for the last two weeks at least. Now that the
water temperature is in the upper 50's to the low 60's they will be moving in
and some are in now. Today my client and I saw about 4 bedding bass in just one
small area. We caught some, not big but fun. Didn't look for any more as we were
checking out other staging spots for an upcoming tourny. Last week clients did
very good on minnows catching two bass to 7 lbs. plus a couple over 6 and 4 over
5 pounds.. Some drop shot fish were caught also. I lost one on a post today that
looked to be over 7, on a drop shot.. The north end of the lake is still
your best bet..Try swimbaits, spinnerbaits, ripbaits and of course drop
shot. See you on the water... Richard

Clients this week found the fishing like
the weather; up and down. The first part of the week, Saturday, was not a good
day with only 6 bass on minnows for 4 hours. However the rest of the week was
fair to good with bass up to 8.8 lbs and 5 bass over 5 lbs with a lot of 3 to 4
pounders plus a nice 7+ on a Persuarder "hitch 6'" swimbait. The
weather forecast looks promising for this weekend thru Wednesday. The North end
is still your best bet, try spinnerbaits, ripbaits, swimbaits and jig's around
staging areas. The water is around 53 am to 55.4 pm. Have a good week and hope
to see you on the water...Richard

A cool front with a lot of wind in the
middle of the week kept the bass bite way down. However my clients braved
through it and caught some nice bass to 5lbs. Now that the weather is more
stable I look for the bite to turn on again as soon as the water gets up into
the mid 50's in the am. Try rip, spinner and swim baits around spawning
areas. If the weather holds out look for some spawing bass in the pm.

Hi folks the bass bite is on with minnows
and a little slow with lures. The most success has been the rip and swim baits
worked in and around staging areas, creeks and sloughs. The north end is still
your best bet. No 10 lb'ers this week but a lot of large bass to 9 lbs..Most
fish are coming out of 3 to 7' of water. The water temp is still on the cool
side, this morning was 51° and by noon it was 57°. Look for them to start
their spawn when the morning water temps are around the high 50's.
Thanks and have a very good and

Windy, rainy weather has been a big
factor in a bad bite the last couple of days and will continue to do so for the
next few days, especially for lure fishermen. On the other hand, the minnow bite
has been very good. Clients this past week caught over 100 bass up to 10.3 lbs,
also a lot in the 3 to 9 lb range. If you are using lures, slow way down with
your presentation because the bass have backed off with this cool rain and wind.
Dress warm and dry... "Tight Lines"! Richard

Fishing Report for the week of 03/05/05

Bass fishin' has been great for fishermen
that have been on the right spot at the right time. Every one is catching fish
using swim and rip baits, also crank baits. Now that the big FLW tourney which
drew 172 boats starting last Wednesday will end today at 3pm, the lake should
get a rest for at least the next few days before another large tourney starts
this coming weekend. The problem now is the shad are coming shallow to spawn and
there are so many that the bass don't have to look for food. So if you are
around a lot of shad, look for another place where there are fewer. It's hard to
compete with thousands of these littly silver fish.. Clients this past week
caught over a hundred bass up to 9.1 lbs, mostly on minnows. We could have done
better but I stayed off the water for 3 days of the 4 day tourney. If you
would like to know more about the tourney go to www.record-bee.com
If you are coming here to fish this next week the north end has turned -on as
the water temp starts in the am at 57° and rises to around 64° in the
afternoon. Try the above techniques plus split shot or carolina rig with a
lizard through the tules.. Take Care be Safe and hope to see you on the water..

Sorry I was wrong last week about the
upcoming FLW (Everstart) tourney, it's this coming week starting Wednesday thru
Saturday.. Ok now that's out of the way lets talk about fishin'. Last week
the bite was just great with clients catching bass up to 8.8 lbs. Jigs, rip and
spinner baits, and of course drop shot and minnows. Now that was last week, this
week the bite slowed way down. I just came off the water and most people that I
talked to were not catching but a couple of fish for their efforts. In fact the
minnow bite was slow although they did catch 15 bass to 4.6 lbs. Now that a
warming trend has started, I look for the fishing to improve through the next
few days. The fish should start moving into the tules and staging in front of
creeks and secondery points. The swim bait should also be working but you have
to do a lot of casting to get your 5 to 8 bites. The north end is still your
best bet. Water temp today; 49° am to 54° pm. Be Safe there are a
lot of boats on the water this weekend... "Tight Lines"!

Fishing Report for the week of 02/19/05

I've been getting reports all around the
lake from fishermen catching good numbers of bass. It seems that just about
everything is working. My clients this week did very good with bass up to
8.8lbs. Spinner baits in white and white/chartreuse have been accounting for
most of the bass while drop-shot and rip baits hold a close second. Swimbaits
are also starting to come on and of course minnows are putting a lot of fish in
the boat. There are a lot of boats on the water getting ready for next weeks FLW
(Everstart) tourney. Which should produce some very big weights. If
you fish the north end of the lake, try slow rolling spinner baits through the
tules. Swimbaits, jigs and drop shot are also good choices. Water temperatures:
49° in the early morning to 55° in the afternoon and clear in most spots. Good
Luck and "Tight Lines"! Richard

- 02/18/05
Fishing for the most part has been the
same as last week's report. However now that the weather has gone south (low
pressure, rain and wind) look for the bass to back off and the bite to slow
down. Clients this last week did very good, catching bass to 9 lbs on minnows as
well as a lot of bass to 4.8 lbs. Spinner baits fished slow through the tules
produced fish to 6.8 lbs. Drop shot is still my go to bait for numbers, big fish
last week on drop shot was 4.5 lbs. Rip or jerk baits have been slow as of
yesterday (Thursday) I think it will improve by Sunday? Will just have to wait
and see. Water temperatures have ranged from 48° in the mornings to 51°
in the afternoons and clear in most places.. Stop Wishin' Let's go

Could you wish for better weather? I dont
think so.. And because of it the bass bite is wide open. The question is what
kind of lure do you like to throw? Slow rolling a spinner bait in the dead tules
can proudce bass over 8lbs. As it did for one of my clients this week, while
fishing on his own! Working a jig or drop-shot and dart heading a worm slow
through the tules is also working. Dont forget crank baits fished in and around
docks. Also the minnow bite is starting to come on strong! Crappie
have slowed down from a few weeks ago, however they are still there to catch.
Try mid lake in 20 to 30 feet of water. The north and the south ends are both
producing, but I think the north is your best bet for larger bass, especially
with jerkbaits. Water temp 47° am to 51° pm. Tight Lines and be safe!!

Fishing Report for the week of
01/29/05 - 02/04/05
Hi folks, sorry for missing several weeks
of reports but now that the bite is starting to get better and the sport shows
are over, I'll get back to my weekly fishing reports. Water temperature is
around 44 in the am to 50 in the pm so the bass are starting to become more
active. I look for this trend to start the female bass to move up shallow more
often however they will just move back when we get another cool spell. That's
the way it will be in the next month or more. Clients in the last two weeks have
been doing fair to good fishing for bass up to 6.10 lbs but the average weight
has been around 2 lbs. Rip baits are working in both the north & south ends
of the lake as well as drop-shot and crank baits worked around docks and tule
lines. If you like crappie fishing then there is no better place (that I
know of) than mid lake south in water up to 30 feet deep. There are some areas
in the north end that are also working though they are smaller crappie. Tight
Lines! Richard.
