Fishing Report for the week of  12/24 - 12/31
Sorry folks, clients this week had to take a "rain check" However reports from around the lake are not good for bass. Those people that did brave the weather said fishing was very slow with the bite coming on rip baits and drop shot. The crappie bite is still going strong..  Have a very "Happy New Year"!! Be safe. Looking foward to seeing new and old friends on the lake in 2005..Richard

Fishing Report for the week of 12/11 - 12/17

Fishing is about the same as last weeks report, however with this warming trend look for the bite to improve. Try the north end with crank baits and drop-shot rigs. Clients this week had a lot of fun catching crappie (well over a 100) Plus quite a few nice bass. Most bass were caught on minnows fished in 3 to 6 foot of water. Water temp started out yesterday (Thursday) at 47 in the am to 51 in the pm. Good Luck out there!!  Richard

Fishing Report for the week of 12/4 - 12/10

After the storm the bite has slowed down, however clients this week were still able to catch bass on drop-shot rig's, rip-baits and crank baits (up to 4.8 lbs.). Mid lake and south were the most productive. If you want to catch a lot of fish, get out your crappie rigs, they are a lot of fun plus they will keep you very busy!  The minnow bite is starting to turn-on, but the big ons are still hard to find.. "Stop Wishin lets go Fishin'"  Tight-Lines!  Richard

Fishing Report for the weeks of 11/20 - 12/03

Bass are on the slow side with all this cool weather so the numbers are way down but you can still catch them on drop-shot and rip-baits. Both ends of the lake are good for this. Minnows are the way to go now that the water is cooling down, it was 48 this am and warming to 50 to 52 in the pm. If you want to catch a lot of fish get your crappie rigs out and head for deep water, they seem to be suspended in water about 15 to 20 feet down. Clients this week caught 100 plus crappie each time out plus some bass to 2.8lbs.. Lures (rip-baits) caught bass last week and this week to 5 lbs. but like I said the numbers are down.. Tight lines have fun!  Richard

Fishing Report for the week of 11/13 - 11/19

Not much has changed from last week. Clients this week did very good during the first part of the week but the last few days have been a little tough. The water is cooling down (50º to 52º) and the best action now is with live jumbo minnows. The last big tournament ends Saturday so maybe the fishing will improve now that they can get a chance to rest. Tight Lines and be safe!!  Richard

Fishing Report for weeks of 10/30 - 11/12

Sorry about last week I was out late with a touring pro on a tournament preparation trip on Friday and was just too tired. The bass bite is still going strong, clients last week and this week were catching fish to over 5 lbs. plus a lot of bass from 1.8 to 4 plus lbs. Shallow is the key for most of the bass, however working deep with jigs and shad pattern crank baits are also working on rock piles.  Both ends of the lake are good but in the north end it's easier to locate fish, just keep working docks with rat-l-traps, speed traps and drop-shot, you never know but you could find a "honey hole" if you keep at it!  Good Fishin and Tight Lines!!  Richard

Fishing Report for the week of 10/23 - 10/29

If you like tournaments they are here every weekend and if that's not enough there was one in the middle of the week also. Now having said that the fishing for my clients has been fair to slow. The north and south ends are working, with the north end improving over the south. Rat-L-Trap's and Speed traps fished in water to 4' have been the go-to baits, with drop-shot worms in 6" size still catching a lot of fish in water up to 15'. Water temp. is from 56 to 62 through the day. Don't know if we will get a good fall bite until the rain gets some more water in the lake..  The lake level is 1.41 feet which is under the average for this time of year- 1.44 feet, which is under this time last year by 2.17 feet.. Good Fishing and Be Safe... Richard

Fishing Report for the week of 10/16 - 10/22

Dress warm in the AM it's cold, water temp is as low as 56 and going up to just 60 to 62 in the PM. With this weather change and more on the way look for the bigger bass to start feeding for winter. Clients this week did very good for numbers but not so good for large bass. Spinner (Pesuader) Rattletraps and crankbaits are working in very shallow water. Drop shot fish are still there but clients have been doing better on the reaction baits.. Both the north and south ends are producing fish in water from 2' to 15'. Good Luck and tight lines!!  Richard

Fishing Report for the week of 10/09 - 10/15

Well not much has changed from my last report, except it's unseasonably hot! Jigs ,crank and spinner baits will get you fish. Drop shot is still the  best way to go for numbers with a big bass here and there as was the case with one of my clients this week with a 9.1 lb'er! She was caught in 4' of water on rock mid lake. The north end is still iffy. So your best bet is mid lake and south.. Good Luck!!  Richard

Fishing Report for the week of 10/02 - 10/08

Looks as though a weather front is due on Saturday morning then clearing by mid day and breezy. It could slow the fishing but on the other hand it might cause the bigger bass to start feeding more..I hope so!  The bite is still good with 15 to 40 bass on a half day trip. I missed last weeks report (sorry) but the bite was very good with the big bass going 9.8lbs! Also last week and this week clients caught bass in the 4 and 5 plus class plus a lot in the 2 to 3.8 lb. range.. "Today one of my clients cranked a 20 lb cat fish!! in 4' of water. The bite is still wide open on choice of lure. Spinner, buzz and crank baits, with the old drop shot accounting for most fish and largest (9.8lbs) With the water level dropping, fish seem to be moving to areas that have deeper water access, however in the north end there is not much choice. I did get a report from another guide that spinner baits were working good in the lakeport area for bass to 5 lbs. I am still working mid lake and down the Clear Lake arm, fishing in 4 to 20' of water.. Tight Lines! Hope to see you on the water... Richard

Fishing Report for the week of 9/18 - 9/24

This past weekend with high winds mixed with rain and low baromenter, I thought Fall fishing may start early. Not so, now the baromenter is up the winds are light and blue bird sky's. The down side to that is the fishing has slowed. Not bad but the numbers are about half from the past few months. Clients this week averaged about 18 bass per outing up to 5.4 lbs. Drop shot is still the way to go, with a few fish on crank and spinner baits. Mid lake and south are still your best bet. The north end is slow again, not that it was every fast. Usually the north end is very good this time of year, so it can only get better, in fact now that the weather has had a few days to stabilize the fishing should improve. The bass seem to have backed off into deeper water this past week, look for them to start moving up this weekend, try under docks and around rock piles. Good Luck and Tight Lines!  Richard

Fishing Report for the week of 9/11 - 9/17

Fishing this week has slowed down to 20 to 30 fish per half day. However bigger fish are showing up more often, that's the good news. The bad news is the wind is up in the am and pm, Fall is in the air. I look for the bite to improve  (big bass) when the Fall kicks- in the next couple of weeks.. Clients this week caught fish on just about everything, with the drop shot accounting for bass over 5 lbs. Buzz bait's first thing in the morning are still catching two to six bass to 4 lbs. The north end is a little iffy, but some good fish have been caught according to some fishermen I know (will try it tomorrow with clients if the wind blows).  Mid lake and south seem to be the best bet for numbers and size, fish water from 2 to 15 feet around docks.  Have fun be safe! See you on the water...Richard

Fishing Report for the week of 9/04 - 9/10

Some people say the fishing has gone down? Clients are still catching from 20 to 40+ fish in just 4 to 5 hour trips with some big ones thrown in! How are they doing it? Just the same old way; drop shoting 6" worms in two to twenty feet of water from mid lake-south. Top water is working as well if you start at first light. Buzz bait's (persuader) did the job today with 7 bass up to 7 lbs. Look for weeds and work around the edges, after that do the same with your drop-shot. Jigs and crank baits are working very well on rock from Rattle Snake Island and around to Redbud.   Tight Lines!  Richard

Fishing Report for the week of 8/28 - 9/03

Clients this week did very good catching bass up to over 6lbs. Wednesday morning the top water bite was great on Persuader buzz baits fished around weeds when you can find them. My client was able to put 18 bass in the boat. The rest of the week only 8 more fish on top water. A few fish on spinner and crank baits with the drop shot accounting for most of the fish to 6 lbs. The north end is starting to turn on around docks now that the weeds are about gone.  As in past reports the same methods apply. Good Luck and be safe this weekend! Hope to see you on the water!  Richard

Fishing Report for the week of 8/21 - 8/27

"The beat goes on" Clients this week had excellent fishing with a lot of bass in the 3 to 4 lb range and a few in the 5 lb range! The numbers have stayed up (35 to 50 plus) for a four to 5 hour trip with the exception of Monday afternoon when the wind got us off the water after three hours and only 12 bass to 4 lbs. Top water (buzz and Zara Spook) bite has been ok until today (Fri) when it turned on for bass up to 4 plus lbs. The north end of the lake is starting to get better. Your best bet is fishing around tules and under docks using drop shot (6") worms in dark colors. The south end is still your best bet for numbers and quality. My client today after the am topwater bite did good drop shoting in water to 20' on rocks and points, working it very very slow. I can't wait for the fall bite! Bigger bass will start to show up in numbers..  Have a great week! and Tight lines!  Richard

Fishing Report for the week of 8/14 - 8/20

As in the past weeks the bass bite is red hot! Numbers and larger fish are showing up more often. Clients caught and released over 300 bass this week! A couple of times this week they had fish up to the boat that would go over 10 lbs, however they came unbuttoned just before the net!! .  The north end accounted for fish up to 5 lbs on spinner baits and drop-shot. Fish early along tules there is a good bite but do it in the AM.  Then go south find some rockpiles, use jig's, drop shot, crank baits, have fun and hang-on! Clients also caught about 17 bass on buzz baits up to 4 lbs.   Be safe and drink a lot of water,"its hot"   Tight Lines!  Richard

Fishing Report for the week of 8/07 - 8/13

Clients this week had a great time catching bass on a variety of baits: buzz, spinner, crank and of course drop-shot. Drop shot is the go-to bait for numbers.  Use 6" worms about any color fished in 2' to 20' water, mid lake and south. Look for rock piles and under docks. Buzz baits accounted for about 30 fish this week in the new Persuader (in-line) blade after blade in white and chr. Try them first thing in the morning around tules and weeds, then when the sun comes up look for shade, under docks or anything that has shade. Spinner and crank baits have been on and off this week. When fishing these baits be sure and come in contact with the bottom whether its rock or dock post or just plain bottom.  Good Fishin' and Tight Lines!!  Richard

Fishing Report for the week of 7/31 - 8/06

Well folks, the bite is great! Just as in the past few weeks however the bigger bass this week have been hard to find. In fact out of over 200 bass only one went over 4 pounds. Because of the algae bloom most of the weeds that were at the top of the water are now not there. Look for this to change now that the bloom is over. Now the sun can start their growth again. Once this happens, "key" on the weeds for the bigger bass (buzz baits, frogs and spinner baits worked around the edges)  Clients this week had a lot of fun catching fish on crank baits, buzz baits, spinner baits and a few frog fish. Drop shot rigs with 6 inch worms in water from 2 to 20 feet are putting most of the fish in the boat..Try mid lake to the south end for best results. Good Fishin' !!! Richard

Fishing Report for the week of 7/24-7/30

All you have to do is read the last two weeks of reports. Things are the same only better! Clients this week caught 223 bass! All were half day trips ( 4 to 5 hours) plus the quality has gone up. Big fish this week was an 8.0 lb'er which came on a drop shot rig in 4 feet of water. Buzz baits accounted for about 13 bass some over 5 lbs while the frog put fish in the boat to over 4 lbs.. Crank baits also were working very well with fish to 3.8 lbs. Where? Just go fishing they seem to be everywhere. However the south end is your best bet.   Fish around weeds, rock and tules, and when the sun gets high go deeper and look for weed mats around tules and shade under docks. Tight Lines!!   Richard

Fishing Report for the week of 7/17-7/23

Just stop wishing and go fishing! The bite is as hot as ever. Clients this week caught on an average of 40 bass just on 4 to 5 hour trips. Big fish was a 6.3 lb'er caught on a Persuader buzz bait (red/bk). Drop shot rigs are catching bass up to 5 lbs plus more fish in the 3 to 4 lb range which is better than past weeks. Crank baits are doing very well as long as you can bump the bottom. Frogs accounted for 5 bass up to 4.8 lbs. I look for this bite to improve in the next few weeks. Look for the best action mid lake south. Clients caught most of their fish on 6 inch worms in water from 2 to 15 feet deep. Have fun and be Safe!  Richard

PS: If you would like to book a trip, I have 4 days open this coming week, just give me a call.... thanks.

Fishing Report for the week of 7/10-7/16

Clients this week had a good time catching 155 fish from 1 to 6 lbs. Most were caught on drop shot rigs used around tules and rocks at depths of 1 to 18 feet from mid lake south. In the north end frogs and buzz baits accounted for about 15 bass to 4.8 lbs. Persuader Gold Rush buzz bait with a red & black skirt fished around weeds and tules was doing the job. White frog fished into the tules and on any weeds you can find will do the job for you also. If you like to throw crank baits or jigs, they are working good in and around rocky areas in the south end of the lake. Be sure to set the hook!  Have fun!!   Richard

Fishing Report for the week of 7/03-7/09

Fishing this week is as hot as last week. Clients are averaging over 30 fish a trip, most trips are just 4 to 5 hours in the morning. The best bet is the drop-shot rig fished on the edge of tules and around weed mats. The top water bite is doing good as well, try the same spots as with the drop-shot (buzz, pop r's , frogs and zara spooks, pick the one you like the best, they are all working. Both the north and south ends are loaded with bass. The crankbait bite was very good last week in and around rocks, mostly mid lake and south. Not sure about it this week.  Keep a tight line and set the hook!    Richard
