Now that the weather has been the same for the last
few days, the bite had improved. The top water bite is still not
quite there, but that should get better in just a few more hot days.
Senkos and drop shot are still your best producers in the north end
and down to mid lake, fish them "very very" slow.
Water temperatures are ranging from 68 to 75 degrees. Take care out
there and "Tight-Lines" Richard Click HERE

The bite is not bad if you know how to sight fish.
This week clients caught about 75% of their bass on beds, the rest
were mostly on drop shot and Senkos. Tried some top water but that is
hit or miss, I think it's because the water temperature is still
under 70 degrees and most of the weeds are not covering the top of
the water as of yet. The north and south around Konocti bay has been
the best. Don't forget your sunscreen and be safe..

Now that the water has warmed up so has the bite.
Drop shot and Senkos are still your best bet. There is also some top
water action which should start to improve as the weeds start to
cover the top of the water. The north end is where most of the action
is. Good luck and "Tight-Lines" Richard

We had sunshine today and I didn't know how to act,
it looks as though it's here to stay.. Look for the bite to improve
over the next few days. The bass should be on the move back to their
spawning beds now that the water has a chance to warm up to the 70's,
however it was only 58 degrees at noon so it will take a few days
before things start to change. Your best bet is still drop shot &
Senkos fished around docks and tules in water from 3 to 10'. Good
Luck out there and "Tight-Lines" Richard....

Good weather or bad, the bass are still biting but
not as good as they should be. They are confused as well as the
fishermen and it looks as though it's not over yet. Soft plastics are
still your best bet, either drop shot or flippin tight in a lot of
cover seem to be the best producers. Water temperature is still in
the low 60's. Good luck out there and "Tight-Lines" Richard

This week has not been very good. Now that the
water temperature is in the mid 60's, the bass have something on
their mind other than food and there are a lot of post spawn bass
that are just swimming around getting their strength back. After this
weekend the bass that are in their pre spawn should be going on beds
so the fishing should improve... "Tight-Lines" Richard

Looks as though the sun will shine for more than a
day or two. Fishing this week has been tough with lures but the
minnow bite has been fair to good. The reports from around the lake
from people using lures is to fish them very, very slow, as in dead
stick your plastics. As for reaction bite "spinnerbait,
crankbaits and some swimbaits are working but not very good so your
best bet is drop shot or shaky head. The coming weeks should get the
top water bite going as well as frogs, in fact they are a few bass
being caught now on frogs, mostly in the early morning (5;30 to about
7am). There are some bass on beds and in the coming weeks and into
June will be much better for sight fishing. Water temperature at noon
today was 62 degrees. Dress warm in the morning and keep a

How bad can the weather be for the last part of
April? Just look at the last three days, rain, wind and very cool.
Now the weather is going back where it's suppose to be so the
fishing's going to get much better. The north end of the lake is
still your best bet. By this weekend the water temperature should get
the bass back to their spawning beds so look for them very shallow.
Baby Brush Hogs fished in the tules on drop shot rigs should do
the best job for you and fish them very slowly. Water temperature got
down to 53 degrees by Wednesday but today it got up to 57 degrees by
noon. Good Luck out there!! "Tight-Lines"

It's still the same old song with cool fronts
moving in every other day. The bass just aren't moving in for the
spawn although I did see some today that were very shallow so if this
weekend weather stays warm they should be on the move. The north end
of the lake is still your best producer. The lure bite this week was
very slow. Minnows are still the best way to have a good day on the
water. Water temperature at noon today was 55 degrees. "Tight

Sun at last!!...Minnows are still your best bet for
catching numbers but with the sun warming the water things could
break wide open within the next few days for lures. This week lures
were not very productive for most anglers. A few swimbait bass were
caught but not very many. Soft plastics are your best bet fished
around docks and tules. I have been spending most of my time in the
Lakeport area so not sure what is going on in the mid to south part
of the lake. Water temperature at noon today was 56 degrees.

April 2, 2010
Cold fronts and rain mixed in with some wind and
snow has dropped the water temperature down to around 52 degrees
which has slowed the bite with lures to just a few bites. Plastic
fished very, very slowly is your best bet. This week clients caught
over 100 quality bass to 8 plus pounds on minnows. Things will get
much better when this cold front goes away..

March 26, 2010
Cool nights and mornings keep the prespawn bass
moving back and forth from their spawning grounds. Things should
break wide open when the water temperature is around 60 degrees in
the early morning. As of now it's a little tough out there with the
water temperature dropping 2 to 3 degrees overnight. Minnow fishing
is very good, where as lure fishing is rated from fair to not so
fair. Ripbaits, swimbaits, jigs, drop shot & shaky head have been
the best producers. Clients this week did very good catching over 100
bass to 8.1 pounds in water from 4 to 10 feet deep in the north end.

March 12, 2010
Not much to add from last week other than we are
all waiting for warmer weather. By the time the B.A.S.S Elite Series
Tournament gets here (March 18, 19, 20 & 21), there should be a
warming trend according to the weather speculators. If so, the bite
should be red hot. Clients this week did very well on minnows
catching over 100 bass to 7¾ pounds, all in water from 3 to 8
feet. Water temperature has still been running around 50 or less
degrees. "Tight"_Lines" Richard Click HERE

March 5, 2010
All we need now is some warmer weather to get the
bite wide open., As of now the weather has been very cool and windy
which has slowed the bite down. There were some nice 5 fish limits in
the last tournament (last weekend) to 31 pounds! Swimbaits & jigs
have been the best producers, mostly in the north end of the lake in
water from 3 feet to 10 feet.
As soon as the water temperature gets to the mid
50's, things should break wide open. Now they are up on a sunny day
then they back off on the cool and over cast days. Today it was very
tough with frost in the morning and then the wind came and no sun.

February 26, 2010
Weather wise it's been up and down and so goes the bite. Last week
when the weather was very good the bass were biting all over the
place but it didn't take long for things to change when the weather
turned for the worst. Look for the bite to take off when the water
starts to warm up after this weather pattern passes. Plastics on drop
shot, shaky head and jigs have been the best producers, fished very
slow around docks and tules. Swimmbaits, crankbaits and spinnerbaits
are also putting some bass in the boat. Minnows are your best bet.
Mid lake and north have been the better part of the lake to fish.
Water temperature in the am has been running around 50 degrees.

Plastic worms and Brush Hogs on drop shot rigs and
shaky heads are your best bet on lures in water from 5 to 10 feet
deep in the north end and 20 plus feet in the south end. Fish them
super slow and keep moving until you find a school of fish.
At last we have a good lake level (5 plus feet
above rumsey) and the water is starting to warm from the mid 40's to
48 degrees in the am. Look for the bass to start moving in the tules
in the next week or so. Minnows are still your best bet for catching
bass. I had a client out Wednesday morning using minnows in the
Lakeport area, fishin' water from 3 to 6 feet. He caught 13 very nice
bass and all of them were from 3+ to 4+ pounds. Water
temperature at 8am was 48 degrees.

The cool water has kept the numbers down but with
minnows you can still catch from 7 to 12 nice bass for a 4 to 6 hour
trip. Lures however are a very slow way to get just a few bass at
best. Fished the mid lake today with only one bass, then went to the
Nice shoreline and had a good morning there with a nice 9¼ lber.
Clients this week caught bass in the south end and north end in water
from 3 feet to 25 feet. Water temperatures remained in the mid
40's. "Tight-Lines" & HAPPY NEW YEAR! Richard
