December 19, 2008 Sorry but there will be no report this week. I haven't fished at all since the 12th.
December 12, 2008 So it goes, good one day and slow on another day,
that's been the story this week. Minnows are your best bet in water as deep as
30 feet to around 3 feet, you just have to try it all. For lure tossers;
jigs, drop shot rigs and lipless crank baits are the top producers. Both the north and south ends are
producing bass but with this weather change coming, things may change a bit,
maybe for the better. Water temperatures have been running 50 to 53 degrees. "Tight-Lines" RichardClick HERE for recent photos. December 5, 2008 Water temperature has dropped down into the low
50's but the bite is still OK. Drop shot has been the best producer and lipless
crank baits, with some swimbait action. Minnows is by far the best way to put 20
to 40 bass in the boat for just a 4 to 5 hour trip. Both the north and south ends of
the lake have been producing. Dress warm for these cool mornings.

November 21, 2008 The lure bite has slowed way down but if you use a drop
shot rig, a slow moving swim bait or a jig you should be able to put a
limit in your boat. Now if you are into using live jumbo minnows then your catch will improve
greatly with an average of 5 bass per hour. We're starting to catch more fish in the
Lakeport area but you have to keep moving until you locate a school of bass, the
same goes for mid lake and south. Water temperatures have been running around 55 degrees. Dress warm for the mornings and have a great
time out there! "Tight-Lines" Richard
November 14, 2008 Clients
had a good week catching bass to over 4 pounds on LV500s and ½
oz. Persuader jigs. The best morning was a 21 fish count with the best
five going 22 pounds. Fishing has been good with lures but this morning
things were starting to slow up. We had to move a lot this morning to
catch our bass, with just 2 to 5 fish per spot, with 0 fish in some
spots. Mid lake and south has been my best bet for getting clients on
fish. Look for feeding birds in shallow water with deep water access
has been the key to finding bass. Water temperature has been running 56
to 58 degrees. "Tight-Lines" Richard
November 7, 2008 This weekend will be the last of the major tournaments for this
year. Adding up one team and one Pro -am and a club tournament there
will be about 100 boats on the water this weekend. There should be a
good bite for them as the two days I was on the water this week we did
very good on lipless crank baits catching 25 bass all over 3 pounds one
morning and 15 another morning for over 20 pounds for our best 5. The
trick is just keep moving until you run into a school of bass, which
will be feeding on shad and other bait fish. Look for the birds feeding
close to shore. Your best bet is in the mouths of sloughs and creeks.
Rip and other crank baits plus swim-baits are also working. Water
temperature has been running around 55 degrees. Good luck out there and
hope to see you on the water with "Tight-Lines"! Richard.
October 31, 2008
At last, some rain which should get the bass into a
good fall pattern. Also there are reports of a lot of shad starting to show up
around the lake. This week we did good on LV500 from Lucky Craft, catching bass
to over 5 pounds. Last week I thought that my clients would use minnows, however
they didn't need them as the bite was on and the lipless crank bait was doing
the trick, in fact their best 5 fish limit was 24 pounds one morning and another
morning they had 21 bass for a 5 fish limit of around 18 pounds. All the bass were
caught in the mid lake area. This rain should improve the fishing in the north
end. Look for bass to move shallow looking for shad and other bait fish, they
will also be moving shallow to feed on plankton. Water temperature are running around 60+
degrees. "Tight-Lines" Richard Click HERE for recent photos. October 23, 2008 The
fishing has improved a little but it's still rated as slow for this
time of year. The bass are over pressured with TOC tournaments in the
past and present with 138 to 189 boats in pursuit of the big one.
Having said this, my clients did very well this week except for one
morning. Most of the better bass came on LV500- lip-less crank baits,
jigs and drop shot in water from 3 feet to 20 plus, mid lake and south.
The trick is being on the right spot first thing in the morning before
sun-up, after that it's very tough. Water temperature from is running
60 to 63 degrees. "Tight-Lines" Richard
October 17, 2008 It's another tournament weekend starting Friday thru
Sunday plus the beginning of duck season and the bite is still slow. Clients this
week did OK for a tough bite, using lipless crank baits, drop shot, jigs &
weight-less flukes. Minnow season has stared for some of the guides and they
seem to be doing better than with lures so I'm going to give it a try with some
clients starting Sunday. Water temperature is running from 60 to 64 degrees. Have fun!! "Tight-Lines" Richard October 10, 2008 I wish I had a better report but the fishing is still slow.Clients
this week did OK using LV500's, Flukes and drop-shot in water 5' to 15'
from mid lake south. Water temperature is running around 65 degrees.
There is also some top water bass being caught on Spooks &
Horny-toads over and around weeds. "Tight-Lines" Richard October 3, 2008 Bass
are everywhere but where is the bite? There is so much bait in the
water that it makes it very hard to get them to bite your lure,
whatever it is.. Before daybreak, if you're in the right place, try
lipless crank baits and if some weeds are around, throw a frog, which
worked today for a nice 5.8 lber. After daybreak it's very - very slow.
Midlake and south is still your best bet. "Tight-Lines" Richard... September 26, 2008
Can't say that things have improved since last
week, it's about the same. Why? Talking to other guides and fishermen, we are not
sure, there are a lot! of minnows, baby bass, crappie & bluegills in the
lake plus we have low water but it was the same last year and the fishing was
very good so it's anybody's guess. Mid lake and south remains the best choice. "Tight-Lines" Richard Click HERE for recent photos. September 19, 2008
This
week's report is about the same as last week's (9/12/08) other than
it's cooler and windy this morning. Water temperature has dropped to
around 71 degrees. Dress warm for the mornings, it's in the mid 40's.

September 12, 2008It's been a tough bite for most of us. Early morning before the sun
gets up is when you're going to catch most of your bass. Top water is a
no show in most cases, spinner baits will put some fish in the boat as
will jigs but the drop shot is your best bet. It's still mid lake and
south for the best bite. I would rate the bite as fair to not so
good.. So just go out and have fun, the weather is great but cool in
the morning. "Tight-Lines" Richard
September 5, 2008It's getting harder to catch bass after 10 am, so
get out early! Clients did very good this week catching a lot of bass in the 3 pound
plus range with a few over 4 pounds. Most fish were caught on drop shot from mid
lake south. The north end is getting too shallow around docks and most other
places, we need rain! Senkos, spinner baits and jigs are working well plus a couple of bass were caught on
swimbaits this week. It's going to be a very busy weekend with
about 150 boats up here for tournaments and with the north end not being
fishable in most spots, the boats will be mid lake and south. Have fun, hope to
see you on the water with "Tight-Lines" Richard
August 29, 2008 If you are on the water this weekend be ready for a busy
lake with Labor Day and a lot of other water actives. The good news is the bass
fishing has improved for frog fishing and there are less weeds to deal with. Senkos,
drop shot and spinner baits have been working good also. The frog bite is mostly
in the north end. Try mid lake and south for other lures. Hope to see you on the
water with "Tight-Lines" Richard August 22, 2008Clients had a good week catching a lot's of bass to
4+ pounds, mostly on drop shot but quite a few on a variety of lures. Top water
is still missing however they did get some on frogs this past week. Mid lake and
south is your best bet, as the north end is getting shallower and the weeds are
still there, but there is a better frog bite there if you can find the right
weed patch. Drop shot, spinner baits, Senkos and some crank bait fish, as for
jigs, not sure where that bite went. See you on the water. "Tight-Lines"
Richard
August 15, 2008 This week was good to very good for clients with half
day trips producing up to 24 nice bass for one morning and a low count this
morning of 11. Not bad for a tough bite and a small lake to fish, that is all
of the upper end (Lakeport and around to Nice) is covered in weeds. Mid lake and
south is where just about everyone is fishing. Drop shot and jigs are
still the best bet. Top water??? Clients did however get some frog fish to 4+
pounds this week. Hope to see you on the water with "Tight-Lines". Richard
August 8, 2008 Clients this week did fair to good catching bass on
a variety of lures with the drop shot and jigs doing the best in the mid to south
end of the lake. Most bass came in water from 5 to 15 feet . The action for this
time of year is well below normal, I guess because of all the weeds
and lack of shad. Reports from the north end are rated to very good using
buzzbaits around off shore weed mats. Top water action is off and on, however
clients did get some, but missed more on super spooks this week. The thing to
do is just keep moving and hope for the best. Have fun in any case, hope to
see you on the water.. "Tight-Lines" Richard
August 1, 2008 It's been an up &
down bite this past week including today. Clients this week did ok for
just half day trips (4 hours) but they are not getting the numbers we
are used to for this time of year. The best bass this week was a very
nice 6.3 lber and a couple of 4+ and the rest went from two to 3+
pounds. Jigs, drop shot and Senkos have been the best bet. There is
some top water action but it's not the best I've see in a long time.
Spinner baits and crank baits have also been producing. If you are out
there just keep looking and change lures until you find some, then move
again.. Hope to see you on the water with "Tight-Lines" Richard July 25, 2008 The north end with all the weeds have made me start
in the mid lake areas and south. Clients this week did good catching bass to 7+
pounds. Jigs have been working best for the bigger bass with Senko's and drop
shot coming in second. Top water just hasn't been very good, at least for my
clients these past few weeks, with just a bass here and there. Some of
my friends have been catching some up to 6 pounds in the north end, I think they
just hit the right weed patch. The trick is still to keep moving until you find
some, then move again as most of the time there is not a large concentration in
one area. Rock piles and drop off's in the mid and south part of the lake are
your best bet.. Good Luck and "Tight-Lines" Richard. July 17, 2009
Where are the bass? They are in the weeds. Where
are the weeds? They are all-over the place.. Fisherman are catching bass as far
out as 1/2 mile mostly in the area from State Park all around to Nice &
Lucerne. Drop-shot and Senko's have been the best bet. The morning top water
bite has been ok but not a lot of big fish (5lb.) or over. Clients this week (
my computer was down for a week last week) did OK with bass to 4+ pounds. Last
week there was a better bite with clients catching two over 7 and a few 5's and
a lot of 3 to 4+ lber's. Early last week I caught a 10½ pounder on a Persuader jig while prefishing for clients. Clear water and all those weeds have the bass
scattered through the upper end of the lake so you just have to search for them
until you find some. Other lures that have been producing are spinnerbaits,
buzzbaits, cranks & poppers. Frog bite has been off and on again because of
such a large area for them to be in. Have fun out there and hope to see you on
the water.. "Tight-Lines" Richard
July 4, 2008
At last the
skys are clearing from all the fires that have been around us. Clients
this week had a good time catching bass to 7 pounds, mostly on drop
shot and Senkos in the area from mid lake to Lakeport. Top water bite
is off and on. Just this morning I went out with a buddy for just a
couple of hours and the bite was ok but the wind was up, so it was a
bit tough in the area we wanted to fish. We did however catch 6 nice
bass on poppers, frogs and buzzbaits. Both the south and north ends are
producing fish on a variety of lures. It's going to be crowded for the
4th of July weekend, so be extra careful out there. "Tight-Lines"
